Jomo Charles is a seasoned architectural professional with over 20 years of experience in design, construction management, and the delivery of residential and commercial projects. With a strong results-oriented approach and commitment to collaboration, Mr. Charles has built a reputation for delivering high-quality, code-compliant projects on time and within budget.
Mr. Charles earned a Bachelor of Science in Architecture and a Bachelor of Architecture from The City College of New York, as well as an Associate in Architectural Science from New York City Technical College. He is a licensed architect in New York, Georgia, Florida, North Carolina, and South Carolina, demonstrating professional excellence across multiple jurisdictions.
He currently serves as Deputy Director of Architecture and Engineering for the In-House Design Studio at the New York City School Construction Authority (NYCSCA). In this role, he oversees CAD and Revit production, construction document coordination, and project administration for both Capacity and Capital Improvement projects. Mr. Charles manages construction coordination among trades, responds to RFIs, reviews submittals and shop drawings, and ensures compliance with New York City zoning regulations, building codes, and NYCSCA standards.
His notable project experience includes the new Natrium Building on Governors Island, P.S./I.S. M502, P.S. 264K, P.S. 310K, I.S. 311Q, P.S./I.S. 177X, and P.S. 487X, among others.
Previously, Mr. Charles served as a Project Officer at NYCSCA, where he supervised major school construction and renovation projects. He also held the role of Project Architect at JF Contracting Corporation and the New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development, leading new construction and rehabilitation initiatives. Earlier in his career, he worked as a Junior Architect at Magnusson Architecture and Planning, PC, and as a CAD Drafter at Zaskorski & Notaro Architects, LLP, where he developed expertise in masonry restoration and affordable housing design.
